Gayness. Gayness is pretty cool in my book.

I know there wasn't no one waiting for my opinion on this or nothing. Jello just kinda explained a buncha stuff to me over lunch that I hadn't thought about, and it's pretty okay in my estimate. I don't see why people are pissed off about this on the internet or Fox News or whatever. All seems pretty legit.

Because, like mutancy, people fear what they don't understand. And western thought + Judeo-Christian philosophy doesn't allow for anything except the binary, which is all most people ever learn.

Close-mindedness and an unwillingness to accept things that are different are what I'd call the root of it. But when people only learn one thing and one thing only, it can be harder to accept other things as equally right and valid.

I agree with most of what you said. Just not with western thought and Judeo-Christian philosophy equating to learning and accepting one thing only. There are plenty of people who've had tons of opportunities to grow and learn who don't want to. They're not all Jewish or Christian westerners. I guess it's just a generalization thing that's sticking for me.

That's fair. I did generalize more than I meant to. MOST of the people I encounter on websites or in classes and whatnot tend to justify themselves by quoting the bible, which is why I said "western Judeo-Christian philosophy" and I've never heard anyone quote Buddha or Shiva or another religion/deity. I studied many cultures as an undergrad and quite a few have more than one gender or accept more than one sexuality, but they are often overshadowed or negated by Western thinking thanks to coca-colonialism. It's sad.

A week out of grad school and I already fail at explaining myself. Figures.
