(And before anyone asks, no, it wouldn't make sense to electrically shield all of the laptops because it's a) expensive and b) adds about a pound of weight that most of you don't want to carry around.)

The term's been co-opted to generally mean electromagnetically-securing a computer or communications device.
For these laptops, it'll work both ways, preventing electromagnetic interference from going into or out of the machine. I had to redesign all the X-Men communicators with it a few years ago to compensate for Lorna's power. I have a whitepaper on it... somewhere... (Reply) (Parent) (Thread)

Back when the Lord of the Rings movies came out, my Mom let us do that and it was really fun.
And it's always awesome to see a book brought to life, you know?
