In case anyone wants to get a hold of Jules, you gotta do it the old fashioned way: he, uh, blew up his laptop a little bit. And I'm not letting him _near_ mine: I've got way to much important crap on here.

Sometimes the "old-fashioned" way can be just as good or even better than the "new" way, I believe.

Good point, Ms. Amaquelin. It does kinda always seem like we're talking through computer screens, doesn't it? I mean, uh, with the journal system and all.

But yea, everyone bug Jules in the flesh.

I can provide him with one of the electrically-shielded ones that Jean-Phillipe and Noriko use, since I'll be setting one up for Lex anyway.

(And before anyone asks, no, it wouldn't make sense to electrically shield all of the laptops because it's a) expensive and b) adds about a pound of weight that most of you don't want to carry around.)

Can I help you set them up?

Certainly, Miss Vale. It will be a good introduction to TEMPEST shielding and principles of interference.

How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world,
That has such people in't!

(Computer says that's from The Tempest by Shakespeare but I'm still having a hard time getting direct hits to what I want so the quote may be off.)

I'll be right down!

TEMPEST was the codename that the government gave to a project about electronic eavesdropping by detecting the changes in a computer's electromagnetic field (usually generated by the display monitor). The term's been co-opted to generally mean electromagnetically-securing a computer or communications device.

For these laptops, it'll work both ways, preventing electromagnetic interference from going into or out of the machine. I had to redesign all the X-Men communicators with it a few years ago to compensate for Lorna's power. I have a whitepaper on it... somewhere...

I figured you weren't talking about a book. I got a hit on a wikipedia article, too, but I liked the quote better.

Would TEMPEST Shielding work against my powers or no?

Oh no, dear god, don't do that. I have breakable things in here and if he spazzes out, I'll have to hit him with a wrench or something. I'll bring one to your suite.

We missed Harry Potter. I just hope he can go to the monster movies this weekend. :(

...I totally have to avoid all my blogs and stuff since I haven't seen it yet. T__T

Is the movie not based upon a book? If you have read the book prior to viewing the movie, will you not already be aware of the events occurring in the movie?

Yeah. But they change things too, so it's not exactly the same story. And I really wanted to go. At some of the midnight showings people dress up and have a lot of fun with it.

Back when the Lord of the Rings movies came out, my Mom let us do that and it was really fun.

And it's always awesome to see a book brought to life, you know?
